This page is for those who want the instruction to fold a traditional origami pigeon. This is a one of many origami Pigeon designs. It is fun for kids and is not difficult. Start with square origami paper.

Designer: Traditional.
Folder and Photographer: @Origami_Kids
Complexity: Very Easy . Time to fold 5 min. 9 steps.

You may use any kind of paper to fold the origami pigeon. It is a little easier if the front and the back side of the paper are slightly different whether it be in texture or color.

Make sure the paper that you use is a square (all sides are equal and all the angles equal 90 degrees). The paper I am using here is a classic Single Uncut square origami Blue paper, about 25 cm x 25 cm.

Once you’ve finished folding these easy origami pigeon instructions you’ll be so addicted a whole flock will be roosting around you before you know it! With easy step-by-step instructions, this model is perfect for folders who enjoy making origami birds.

Step by Step Folding Instructions: Easy Paper Pigeon

easy-Origami-PigeonStep 1: Start with a square sheet of paper , fold in half downward to make a crease and unfold. and turn it so that it looks like a diamond. (The side facing away from you will become the color for the body.)

Step 2: Fold the paper in half sideways. Diagonally fold the top and bottom corners together, making a horizontal crease along the full length of the paper from side to side.

pigeon01Step 3: Fold the left corner to the right. Grab the front and back of the top of the triangle and fold down so that the point you are holding goes past the base of the triangle (see the picture in Step 4 for reference).

Step 4: Fold the upper layer of the corner to the left, creasing along the center line. In the picture below the left and right sides will become the origami pigeon’s wings. To make the head, grab the front flap of the upside down triangle and fold it up so that the point goes past the wings (see the picture in Step 5 for reference).

Step 5: Fold the item in half downward. Fold the model in half vertically.

Step 6: Fold the upper layer of the bottom part upward and then the bottom layer backward to make the wings. Rotate the model 90 degrees so that the sings point up. Grabbing only the front wing, fold down so that a “white” diamond appears in the center of the model. Please note that the diamond may be a different color depending on what kind of paper you use (see the picture in Step 7 for reference).

pigeon02Step 7: Fold the corner downward to make a crease and unfold.

Step 8: Fold the corner inward to make the beak. Fold the longer wing down so that it lines up with the short wing. You should see a “white” upside-down triangle.
