Traditional Origami: Classic Paper Boat
Designer: Model Traditional
Folder and Photo: @Origami_Kids
What fantastic fun to make an origami boat so easily and then float it! To make the boat last longer when it’s on water, try using foil paper or grease-proof paper. The Traditional Classic Boat is a fun decorative origami design and really floats! Coming up next are my Stop Motion instructions that help you to fold your own origami Classic Boat. Perfect for beginners. This was the second model that I learned to fold. The first one was a paper airplane.
Complexity: Easy. Time to fold 5 min. 7 steps. Folded from a one square printer white paper, about 15 cm x 15 cm.
The Classic boat is easy to make, and is also a fun action toy. All over the world, the rainy season will see many kids building boats. This actually float very well. It can also be waterproofed to last longer. Let’s start folding.

How to flod the Paper Boat: Clasic Paper Boat.
To fold the Boat you should follow step to step the following sequence.
1.- On the Left side of the paper leaf appears before folding and on the right side of the leaf after folding it.
2.- The central image indicates you like you have to fold the leaf, after The folding you should click the button ‘Next’ to see the next step.
3.- You have to repeat these steps until you finish folding the Boat.
4.- With the button ‘Back’ you will return to the previous step.
5.- The button ‘Start’ takes you to the step 1 and the button ‘End’ takes you to the last step.
You may use any kind of paper to fold the paper boat. It is recommended to use a non-square paper. In this example, I am using the same color and texture for both front and back sides. But it is also okay if you use different color and texture.
- Try to get the edges of the paper to line up.
- Waterproof your boat! Use a waxed paper from an art store to make your boat last longer, or color one side of the paper completely with a crayon. You can also try to make your boat out of aluminum foil.
- Be aware that the heavier the paper you use, the harder the boat will be to make.
- If you are floating your boat on a large body of water, like a pond, you can tape string onto one end of the boat.
- Hold on to the other end of the string so that it doesn’t float away!
- Make sure you crease well. Use a ruler or a paper folder to make tight folds.
